GPS Antennas on an Aircraft

Most aircrafts are now making sure they have a GPS antenna installed on their aircrafts, rather than just having the standard receiver in the cab. A GPS antenna integrated with an aircraft GPS device has many advantages; with an antenna you can receive a much higher signal on the airplane GPS device, especially if the pilot has to request numerous different aviation maps in a short space of time, download and upload times can be dramatically reduced.Aircraft GPS devices are used every day, mainly for navigation, but they are also used to assist in aerial photography, aerial surveying and for gathering all sorts of information from the air. Also they can assist in planning aviation maps themselves for use on airplane GPS devices in the future. Most aircrafts these days make use of GPS due to their extremely high accuracy and the fact that they work no matter what environment or weather they find themselves in. Although the aircraft GPS itself can be quite expensive, and the antenna will add extra expenditure, but many believe that the advantages of having one installed far outweigh the disadvantages. Many pilots around the world depend on the technology.
